The 623 model of evangelism uses one verse to share the gospel message. The verse is Romans 6:23.  This model also uses a dialogue approach to communicating the gospel.

Transition is the key to getting into a discussion about Jesus. In this model a simple question could be used to move the conversation to spiritual matters. Ideally this question could be used as part of the ACT principle or before or after you share your story. The question would be

Do you mind if I get your opinion on some spiritual matters?

If they agree, you would want to ask them questions that could get them to consider the truths of Rom 6:23.  The series of questions would help you to understand what they believe about  Jesus, sin, and eternal life. Try not to share your beliefs until you use Rom 6:23. Let the authority of the word of God do the talking as you explain it.

Use this discussion format for each of the three  categorys on the back of the card: Jesus, Sin, and Eternal life*

* If time doesn't permit to go through all the questions just ask the last one about eternal life.

Listen to how they respond to the questions and be ready to present the gospel.

At the end of your discussion ask,

Do you mind if I show you how the Bible answers these questions?

If they agree go through the 623 gospel presentation.

623 Gospel Presentation

Use the back of the hotline card to show them Rom 6:23. Ask them to read it if they can if not you read it to them. If you don't have a hotline card write the verse wherever you can and continue with the presentation.

Tell them there are five things that this verse expresses:

The first thing is  God's Desire

Say, "God's greatest delight and desire is to know you and to give the gift of

eternal life to those who delight in Him."

Underline the words gift and eternal life in the verse.

Then say: "Although this is God's desire man has a debt to pay because of sin"

Second consider Man's Debt

Say, "Everyone has sinned by disobeying God. Their delight is in

themselves rather then God. We are separated from God

and must pay the wages of our actions which is spiritual death."

Underline the words wages, sin and death in the verse.

Then say: "Even though we have a debt to pay for our sins God has provided a

    deliverer to make our payment"

Third look at Man's Deliverer

Say, "Jesus lived a sinless life, thus he had no wages of sin to pay. His death

on the cross  paid the sin debt of those who give up their sin and come to

    Him."

    Underline the word Jesus.

Then say: "Jesus willingly gave his life, but now you must decide what to do with

    Him."

Fourth evaluate Man's Dilemma

Say, " Each person must decide how to respond to Jesus. Either believe in

who He is and what He did, turn from their sins and follow Him as their master

    and Lord, or reject Him."

    Underline the word Lord.

At this point you might want to express that following Jesus is not a halfway

commitment but a whole life commitment. Making Jesus Lord means giving up

everything that is contrary to Him and making Him your delight.

Then say, "God wants to be in a relationship with you, but you must receive

    the gift he offers."

Finally consider God's Delight

Say, "God delights to give the gift of eternal life to those who believe in and

follow Jesus. Those who don't will remain spiritually dead in sin and eternally

    separated from God."

Underline the words gift of God.

Then ask, "Is there any reason why you can't turn from your sins, come to

Jesus, and receive God's gift of eternal life right now?"

It might be helpful to some people to observe a diagram of the ideas that you are trying to express in the verse. A simple step by step illustration can be used as you talk with the person. To see the diagrams click here:
