SESSION III

Materials Needed:

PRACTICAL TRAINING:

A. Introduction  (5 min.)

Remind students of the things they need to turn in.
Talk about details and deadlines for your specific group.
If your group is large enough, determine group leaders and groups.

B. Your Journey Practice (10 min)

Divide the students into groups of two. Have them practice the Your Journey material on each other. Remind them to have several versions of their Story so as they listen to the Beach Goer they can adapt their Story to relate to the situation of the hearer. Have them begin by asking, "Can I tell you my journey?"

Tell them you will only give them 2 minutes to tell their story. Call time at the end of two minutes and have them reverse roles.

C. Evangelism Practice (10-20 min.)

Divide the students into groups of two. Have them practice  the Satisfaction Model. Method on each other using the ACT Principle. Have one person play the role of the Reach Reacher and the other that of the Beach Goer. After a few minutes have them switch roles.

Begin the encounter by having the Beach Reacher ask the Beach Goer:

"Hi we're with Beach Reach here helping people during spring break, I am (your  name), who are you?"

Divide the students into different groups of two. Have them practice  the Satisfaction Model. Method  on each other using the back of the Hotline Card. Have them go through the entire  Satisfaction Model..  Have one person play the role of the Reach Reacher and the other that of the Beach Goer. After a few minutes have them switch roles.

Begin the encounter by having the Beach Reacher ask the Beach Goer:

"Hi we're here with Beach Reach helping people during Spring Break, did you get one of our cards?"

Give each person about five minutes to go through the methods.

EVANGELISM TRAINING

A. Materials

Print off this material to give to the students and explain to them where they can find
        answers to specific questions online.

B. Training

Remind the students of the seven step process of the Steps to Servant Evangelism. Review the ACT and the Satisfaction Model Method steps 1,2, 3, and 4.

Explain that once you have Directed the conversation toward Spiritual
matters and Discussed the Gospel, you would proceed to step 5, Deal with any objections, then on to step 6, Deliver an invitation to come to Christ.

Explain that in this session the student will learn steps 5 and 6 in the process.

Explain to the students that although this section is listed after the discussion of the gospel, very often questions will arise while the Satisfaction Model Method. Explain that after the gospel presentation they would need to address any misunderstandings and objections that the non-believer might raise.

This can be accomplished by asking a transition question such as:

Small Groups:

Pass out copies of the Dealing with Tough Questions material. Divide them into groups of 4 and have them discuss ways that they have responded to difficult questions. Have them look over the most common objections that have been raised by non-believers and discuss answers that they can give to the queries. Have them list other questions that they have faced and how they answered them.

Large Groups:

Bring them back into a large group and dialogue about what they discussed. Encourage the students not to be afraid of addressing questions as they are asked. Help them realize that often it is important to dialogue with the non-believer concerning spiritual issues that might hinder them from following Christ.

Assist the student to understand that they might not be able to answer effectively all the objections that they might encounter in sharing the gospel. It is perfectly ok to say,

"You know I don’t know how to answer that question, but I will search for an answer, and try to get back to you."

Finally, the students must discern that the Holy Spirit is the only one who can:

Encouragement to Offer an Invitation

                             Use the examples below:

Luke 5:27-28, Matthew 4:18-19, and Luke 18:18-23.

Transition Question for the Invitation

After sharing the gospel the student can ask this or a similar question:

"What would it take for you to turn from your sin and turn to God right Now?

Prayer of Commitment

If the student is sure that the non-Christian wants to receive Jesus, then
they can lead them in a prayer of commitment in a tract or use one similar to the ones below.

Pray this or a similar prayer:

Dear God,

I know that I have sinned against you.

I know that the penalty for my sin is spiritual death.

Jesus, I believe that You died for my sins.

Please forgive me of my sins and give me eternal life.

Change my life and help me to follow you.

Thank you,

In Jesus name, Amen.
